Cultivating Creativity, Community and Kindness

A collection of work from various artists with Wayzgoose Kitsap

Wayzgoose Kitsap began in 2016 with the goal of uniting and uplifting the Kitsap arts community. Inspired by regional wayzgoose festivals, its volunteer-led founders launched an annual printmaking event built on passion and grit. By 2018, 15-ton steamrollers were rolling out giant 3×3-foot prints, giving people of all ages a hands-on taste of printing magic.

Now a 501(c)(3), Wayzgoose Kitsap has grown beyond a festival into a year-round movement centered on accessible art, storytelling, and community connection. With support from sponsors, donors, and dedicated volunteers, the organization provides free art programs, supplies, and experiences—removing financial barriers and fostering creativity for all.

The term wayzgoose dates back to early printers, who celebrated the seasonal shift from daylight to candlelight with a feast and festival. While candlelight is no longer required, the spirit of creativity, celebration, and community remains timeless in Kitsap.

Every year, Wayzgoose Kitsap selects a new theme for participating artists to explore in their work, encouraging them to interpret it freely and creatively. This year’s theme, Cultivate, inspired contributions from the Olympic College Art Department, KRL Teens, Bremerton Youth Arts Hive, Evergreen Bright Start, Hood Canal School Artists, the Rice Fergus Miller Team, BARN Print and Book Arts Studio, Letterpressed Librarians, Mariah Finch, Journey Meyers, Lys M. Perhay, and Rouge Gorilla.
