A collection of work from Darby Rose Guerechit
We’re excited to welcome a new exhibit from Bremerton-based artist Darby Rose Guerechit, whose collection Coast to Cascades offers a fresh take on the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. Some pieces depict imagined terrain, while others are grounded in specific, meaningful places—but all are infused with Darby’s signature sense of exploration and curiosity.
Darby has been painting and making art since she was a little girl and began selling her work in 2009. Her art practice is rooted in process and experimentation. She’s always examining the relationship between color, saturation, shape, texture, and line—seeking to create a painting that feels both balanced and surprising, revealing unexpected details and depth.
While she primarily uses acrylic and gouache, Darby also incorporates materials like house paint, gel crayon, alcohol ink, and paint markers. She moves between stretched canvas and raw wood panels to maintain a sense of unfamiliarity with her materials—something she finds essential to keeping her creativity alive.
In addition to being an artist, Darby is an occupational therapist, a mother to two boys, a wife, and an enthusiastic gardener. Her work invites viewers into a world that is both deeply personal and richly imagined.
